April 22, also known as Earth Day and today in Chicago, there are protesters marching for the "basic facts of science." Eltagouri and Lee (authors) point out the reason for the march, "Standing up for scientific research and initiatives they feel under threat by policies of Trump's administration - cutting 20% of funds to the National Institute of Health." When it comes to the advancement of technology, I would understand why people would go do this march, even I would join the march if science research is cut down and that would slow technological advancement that might be needed in the future. We need to the funds in order to the learn more about what is beneficial for society. Authors expressed the same concern as they described the feelings of the crowd and the signs they held. One of them caught their eye and that is a six- year old girl yelling, "There is no Planet B!" They also mention an 70 year old sociologists holding the image of Earth and the Solar System. Choosing for these two specific people indicates that not only science lovers and scientists advocate for the march but also a wide range of different age groups account for it as well.
