News: Police Arrest Man Who Punched A Hotel Worker Who Was Run Over By Cab
The author William Lee uses an informational diction to report a morbid and unjust scene. As a reporter, Lee wrote the article through information he gathers about the last year incident. His information is straightforward in describing the events that happened during the scene. Gathering information from law authorities, collection of 911 calls, footage, and interviews with family, the appeal to logos is immense. The information also reveals a surprising attribute to the scene in which bystanders watched the whole scene from the guy who punched the victim to being run over by the cab. In an audience point of view, this would generate a shocking emotion and raises controversy in the human nature (like why did people stood there while the victim was punched and knocked out and how come no one came to the streets where the victim was laying? They had two minutes and the man who punched him was already gone. Did the cab driver not see a man laying on the street?) The author tries to maintain a monotonous tone but there are hints that he is shocked as well through a hasty and simple syntax, only consisting of two or three sentences per paragraph. As his job as a reporter, he informs the audience of a story about a man who died on the streets while his perpetrator escapes for a year. It is until now, the story revived after the supposed suspect is caught.
